like to contact anyone who is connected with his gggrandfather Richard Smart
Groombridge... born in West Farleigh in 1805. He came out to Tasmania, then Van Diemans Land in 1831 as a convict. His brother John Smart Groombridge
came out to Tasmania about 1840 as a free settler and his other brother William
went to South Australia as a free settler in 1840.
Tony says "There is a very large population of Groombridges in Australia,
especially Tasmania and most of them can be traced back to Richard Smart
Groombridge."
For information the Smart part of the
name came from Richard's grandmother who was Prudence Smart, also from West
Farleigh. You
