FROM JANE BURRELL

Comments from Jane Burrell:- A few notes to put Emily Fancett in context. June already has this information, but other visitors to your site may find it useful.

Emily Fancett (1863 - 1952) of West Farleigh married William Ledger (1869 - 1899). They lived in Chislehurst where William was employed as a carpenter (and electrician) at Foxbury, the estate of the Tiarks family.

Their children, Winifred Fossey Ledger (1895 - 1954) and Jack Fancett Ledger (1899 - 1978) were born in Chislehurst. Following William's early death from peritonitis, Emily took in lodgers at their house in Camden Grove, Chislehurst. The 1901 census reveals she was hosting a visit from her aunt, Jane Neale (nee Fancett) and cousin, Mabel Fancett (b 1880).

Around 1905 Emily moved with her two children to Webbington near Loxton in Somerset to work for Herman Tiarks. She returned to Kent in the 1920s and spent the rest of her life in Eltham; she never remarried.

Jack Fancett Ledger married Antoinette Dooley (1909 - 1997) and moved to New York in the 1930s; he had three sons.

Winifred Fossey Ledger married Douglas Vaughan Lewis Craddock (1894 - 1969); she had one daughter - my mother.

FROM BENOIT FANCETTE TO STEVEN FANCETT

Comments from Benoit Fancette :- Hi Steven - We are related. Our great Grandfather William and his wife Emily were from Lower Michigan. The family origin is Maidenstone, England. My father was William Henry Fancett and he lived in Newberry, Michigan. My brother Gary lives with our mother Ruby Fancett in the family home there. In the Ionia, MI graveyard are many relatives. I have the history of the family from when I tracked it using the Mormon records in Utah back in the late seventies. If you would like to talk about it, please send me an email.

FANCETT NAME ORIGIN

Steven James Fancett, who lives in Central Michigan, USA, would like some help on the origins of the Fancett family name. You can contact him here.

Stevens' great great great great grandfather, William Fancett, b 1845, d 1907, married Emily Winham, b 1852, d 1925, in Maidstone, England. They went America in December 1869, the same year they were married. Steven and Wendy would like to know if there are relatives of his family still in and around West Farleigh.
