LOCAL SEARCH - DOVE
|
From Dave Dove - I have been trying to
trace my ancestors for the past few years and I have got as far as Thomas Dove
who was born in West Farleigh in 1834. My grandfather, George Thomas Dove, was
born on 22 Feb 1890 at 55 Pattison Rd, Plumstead, Kent and he married Lillian
Annie Lloyd on 14 Dec 1915, after going to Canada in about 1900 with his
Grandmother (Emily Hendry?) I have the Canadian Archives for this period and he
joined the Canadian Expeditionary force.
Their children, Gerald Lloyd Dove, my father, and Doreen, his sister, (she had
two children Sandra and Martin), are still alive and live in Thetford. My
grandfathers parents were George Dove who married Emily Mears in Woolwich in
1889 and they lived at Essenden Terrace, Plumstead. I believe George's parents
to be Thomas and Elizabeth Dove.
My Grandfather was well off and lived in a big house in Chiswick, and he had a
brother Percy. I have numerous old photos of my grandfather friends who I am
unable to identify. Anyway, I would be pleased to hear from anyone who could
fill in any gaps in my search.
Regards Dave Dove |

From Valerie Dove - Hello, I just
found out that I am a descendant of Nicholas Dove, born 1740, Charlie P. Dove
being my great grandfather. My name is Valerie J. Dove, daughter of Roger D.
Dove. If anyone has any information on the Dove family and where we originated
from I would greatly appreciate it, Thank you very much, Valerie. |

From Stuart Dove - I am a direct
descendent of the Doves of West Farleigh. I have traced my family name back to
John Dove from West Farleigh who married Sarah Page on 5/11/1782. He had a son
called Robert, born 1792, who married Elizabeth ?. They had a son, Thomas
Arthur, born 1/1/1836 who married Elizabeth Baker on 1/9/59. They had a son,
also called Thomas Arthur, born just after the marriage 1/10/59. He was my
grandfather. He had two brothers, Robert and George, and a sister Anne, possibly
a stepchild, Lizzie. His brother Robert became quite rich. I have Robert's will
from 1938, mentioning his nephew George Thomas Dove, who received a large sum, a
cousin R.H.W. Dove, and his nephew Hugh Percival, who received the largest
amount. Thomas Arthur junior had 10 children. The youngest, Bernard, was my
father, born 1910. I am his youngest son, born 1946. To return to Thomas Arthur
Senior. He had a much older brother, born in 1821, who married Caroline
Parramore in 1845. They have a fine grave in the church at West Farleigh.
Yours, Stuart Dove (Born 1946) |

From Karen Dove - Does anyone have any
information from back in the 1600's regarding the Dove's that went to England
and then onto the US? I am looking for the parents of William (the Wanderer)
Dove who was born in England and ended up in the US. Any information anyone
may have or direction you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

From Roger Dove - Whilst I now live in
the north of Scotland the Dove family roots seem to be firmly in West Farleigh.
My uncle Robert Dove kept the Post Office for many years and my cousin (also Bob) has
his ashes scattered on the cricket pitch. I also understand that churchyard
contains a few generations of Doves. I have only recently become interested in
family history and am still discovering the mysteries of genealogy but have
already realised that I am at a disadvantage in not having ready access to
parish records etc. I would be delighted to exchange information with anyone who
is interested, although most of mine is anecdotal rather than from actual
records. |
