From Barbara Barnes - I am writing
from Heathcote, Sydney, Australia. Research shows that my husband's family has
connections with West Farleigh. James Edward Barnes was born about 1848 in West
Farleigh and christened on 30th January 1848 in West Farleigh. James Edward was
the son of James Edward and Margaret and he married Sarah Ann Matthews of
Hollingbourne, 19th March 1870, in Maidstone. This couple emigrated to Australia
and I have good details from their entry time to Australia. My reason for
contacting you is that I will be in London during the week 13th - 20th June
2010, and would love to journey down to West Farleigh and visit the locality of
my husband's G-G-Parents. Would the church connected with the christening etc be
open for me to visit? I have no other details to offer you of residence etc. but
gather that James Edward's occupation was as a Butler.
Hoping you may be able to assist me. Thank you for the time you will give
this email. Believe it or not my late husband was yet another James Barnes and
now my grandson also carries the name James!
