East Farleigh Preschool is a
local charity which offers sessional day care for under fives.
We meet in the Church Hall, East
Farleigh 4 mornings (Monday – Thursday) and one afternoon (Friday) per
week and follow the foundation stage of the national curriculum. This is
designed to encourage children to learn through play and gently prepares
them for reception class in main-stream schools where they go on to
complete the Foundation stage.
We are regulated by Ofsted and
our staff are police checked.
We are run by a committee made
up of mainly parents of children attending the Preschool, so we are very
much a part of our own children's learning and development as well as a
good information resource and a great source of friendship.
We are also a member of the
Preschool Learning Alliance (PLA) which offers advice and practical
support to preschool committees throughout the UK as well as financial
help and guidance.
The children participate (if
they wish to!) in a range of activities designed to stimulate their
imaginations and develop their social skills as well as just plain
having fun! With stories and ‘circle-time’ the children are encouraged
to develop listening skills and build their confidence, there is
physical apparatus such as climbing frames and scooters to help with
coordination and balance as well as a range of dressing up activities,
sand and water play, puzzles and games. Children are encouraged to tidy
up after themselves and are supported as they learn how to interact with
others in an appropriate manner.
We introduce the children to
different topics during the term around which the play activities are
based and parents are regularly kept informed of the topics and any
other information via the preschool emailing list, website and
newsletter.
We organise regular events for
the children such as outings and sports day as well as entertainment for
the parents such as quiz and Pictionary evenings and family fundraisers
such as our Winter Warmer village walk and our Easter egg hunt.
There is a real community
atmosphere here waiting to welcome all newcomers and support children
and parents of all faiths and abilities alike. To find out more, just
